Latisse is FDA approved topical eyelash serum sold by Allergan. The active ingredient Bimatoprost under the name Lumigan is a prostaglandin prodrug used to stop the progression of glaucoma. A side effect of Lumigan is that patients started growing long dark lush eyelashes. Allergan began studies and received an FDA approval, since then 1.5 million bottles of solution have been sold. Latisse is applied with a brush on the lash line nightly. Patients will see results in 4 to 8 weeks; the bottle is a three month supply. Latisse is the only company with a legal patent to use Lumigan.
