Plantar wart is a wart cause by the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) that occurs on the soles or toes of the feet. A plantar wart resembles cauliflower with tiny black specs that ooze blood when the surface is cut or shaved. Because the pressure on the soles of the feet, a hard layer of skin forms over the wart similar to a callus or corn. Once a person is infected with HPV there is no evidence of treatment that eliminates the infection; there are treatments that lessen the symptoms. Plantar warts are spread in moist areas like communal showers, bathhouses and sharing socks and shoes.
