Neuromas are an abnormal nerve that has been damaged by trauma or abnormal foot function.  The ball of the foot is the most common place for neuromas, as it progresses the nerve can be permanently damaged requiring surgery for removal.  Surgery to remove neuromas is usually a simple procedure using local or twilight anesthesia.
