Arthroscopic surgery is a minimally evasive surgical procedure using arthroscope a type of endoscope that is inserted in the joint through a small incision. Arthroscopic surgery is performed to evaluate or treat orthopedic conditions such as ACL repairs and damaged cartilage. The advantages of arthroscopic surgery are that the joints don’t have to be fully opened; only two small incisions are made one for the arthroscope and another for the surgical instrument. This reduces recovery time and increased surgical success rate because there is less trauma to the connective tissue.
